Pressure equipment: from engineering and manufacturing to complete project support

Pressure equipment plays an essential role in a wide range of industrial processes. Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, separators and other pressure-retaining equipment are used in installations where reliability, safety and operational continuity are of paramount importance. The intended application and process conditions place high demands on every stage of the project, from design and material selection to fabrication, quality assurance, inspection, testing and certification.

PMF Industry Group, part of House of Contracting, has a proven track record in pressure equipment across various industrial sectors. The petrochemical industry and the oil and gas sector are key markets, alongside renewables and the circular economy. Drawing on this broad expertise, PMF delivers solutions to complex industrial challenges by combining engineering expertise, craftsmanship and high-quality manufacturing facilities.

A concrete example of our contribution to the energy transition is the serial production of pressure vessels delivered hydrogen-clean for use in the hydrogen industry. This involves combining specialist knowledge, precision manufacturing and rigorous quality control to meet the stringent requirements of these applications.

Customised pressure equipment solutions

Within House of Contracting, PMF Industry Group provides specialised pressure equipment solutions as a dedicated contracting partner. PMF focuses on manufacturing various types of equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, separators, dust filters, distillation columns, gas separators and reactors. Depending on the application, process requirements and customer specifications, every project is delivered on a bespoke basis, with careful coordination of design, material selection, manufacturing and quality assurance.

PMF's manufacturing facility in Uithuizen is equipped to produce pressure vessels up to approximately 20 metres in length, 4 metres in diameter and with wall thicknesses of up to 60 mm. Materials used include carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and various specialised alloys, selected to suit the application and process conditions. For non-standard dimensions and specifications, technical feasibility and manufacturing capabilities are assessed on a project-by-project basis.

Within House of Contracting, we can look beyond the manufacturing capabilities at PMF and, where a project requires it, draw on additional capabilities and specialist disciplines across the group. This enables us to deliver suitable solutions for non-standard specifications and complex engineering challenges.

From basic design to a certified end product

A project starts with the customer's basic design and process data. Based on this information, PMF carries out the subsequent mechanical engineering, including calculations, 3D modelling and manufacturing drawings. PMF then coordinates the entire process, from the procurement of materials and components to manufacturing, testing and the preparation of quality and product documentation. The result is an integrated project approach in which engineering, manufacturing and execution are closely aligned.

For pressure equipment, we draw on the certifications held by PMF Industry Group. PMF is certified in accordance with PED 2014/68/EU, Module H1, and can manage the design and conformity assessment process, including the associated quality assurance and documentation. The required independent design examination under Module H1 is carried out by the Notified Body (NoBo).

Customers receive support throughout the entire process, from design through manufacturing and conformity assessment. All manufacturing stages, checks, inspections and tests are recorded in a Manufacturing Record Book (MRB). This provides customers with a documented manufacturing history and full traceability of the pressure equipment.

The strength of a single multidisciplinary partner

House of Contracting enables customers to bring together multiple disciplines within a single organisation. By drawing on the various specialisms within the group, we can take on and deliver both specific pressure equipment projects and complete multidisciplinary projects.

By combining expertise, capacity and execution capabilities, we can support projects from engineering and manufacturing through to installation and final handover. This gives customers a single point of contact, short communication lines and the capacity to successfully deliver even complex and large-scale projects.
